Argentina – A Report Indicates and Increase in the Number of Antisemitic Incidents
The Center for Social Research (CES),which operates under the auspices of the umbrella organization of Argentine Jewry (DAIA), published a report summarizing the antisemitic incidents that occurred in that country in 2006. According to the report's findings, there were 586 antisemitic incidents in Argentina during that year, an increase of about 35% in comparison with 2005. The compilers of the report have determined that the increase in the number of antisemitic incidents has a direct connection with the Second Lebanon War in July and August of 2006. It should be emphasized that the antisemitic incidents are categorized by CES according to very strict criteria which are not identical to those set by the Coordination Forum for Combating Antisemtism.

Europe – A Sharp Rise in the Proportions of Antisemitism in European Countries
The Commisioner of the European Council for Security and Justice Affairs, who visited a memorial site for Holocaust victims in Germany, reported that in March the Center for Monitoring Antisemitism and Racism in Europe will publish a disturbing report on a highly visible increase in the scope of antisemitic and racist activities all over Europe. According to Commissioner Franco Pratini, the Monitoring Center under the aegis of the European Union reveals in its report that over the last year there has been a sharp increase in antisemitic activity of between 25% and 45% in various countries, while in one country whose name he refused to reveal, there has been an increase of up to 70%. "In my country, France", he said, "as well as in our close neighbors Belgium and The Netherlands, there has been an especially large increase in these negative phenomena".

France - Anti-Semitic attacks jump in France
The number of anti-Semitic incidents in France jumped sharply in 2006, lifted by attacks following the brutal murder of a young Jew at the start of the year and by the war in Lebanon, a Jewish group said on Monday.
CRIF, the representative council of Jewish institutions in France, said physical attacks on Jews rose 46 percent to 112 last year from 77 in 2005.
Anti-Semitic "actions", including both assaults and lesser attacks such as throwing objects or causing material damage, rose 40 percent to 213 from 152, while the number of threats rose by 7 percent to 158.
CRIF said the rise in attacks appeared to have been fuelled by the murder of Ilan Halimi , a 23-year-old Jewish man whose death at the hands of a group of kidnappers in February last year shocked France.
Real determination or an opportunity
Halimi was found naked and tortured after three weeks in captivity and died shortly afterwards.
The leader of the kidnappers said they had wanted to extort a ransom and denied acting out of anti-Semitic motives, but the Interior Ministry branded it an anti-Semitic act and it was followed by a spate of attacks on Jews in Paris.
CRIF also said the war in Lebanon between Israeli forces and Hizbullah guerrillas during July and August of 2006 sparked a rise in attacks in France which continued into September and October.
"Anti-Semitic actions are carried out sometimes with real determination, sometimes simply because an opportunity presents itself," it said in a statement.
The statistics were collected from reports by the service for the protection of the Jewish community (SPCJ), which counts both attacks reported on a hotline and information supplied by the Interior Ministry

Britain - Anti-Semitism rises in UK

The number of anti-Semitic incidents in the UK has risen to its highest ever.

According to the Community Security Trust (CST), 594 incidents were reported in 2006 - a rise of 31% in the previous year and the most since records begin in 1984.

The incidents range from 112 violent assaults, up from 82 in 2005 to 70 attacks on Jewish communal property, up from 48 in 2005.

While incidents were spread out across the country, nearly 50% of assault and violence took place in Manchester, a city that only accounts for around 10% of all British Jews.

Among the incidents were 47 gravestones damaged in two incidents at a Jewish cemetery in Manchester, Swastikas scratched into a Holocaust memorial in Nottingham and leaflets saying “No Jews”.

One area that down was mass produced anti-Semitic literature. In 2006 the number was 20 compared to 27 in 2005.

"Anti-Semitic hate crime levels have more than doubled in the last ten years. This is unacceptable racism, that many Jews had hoped and believed was a thing of the past," said CST spokesman Mark Gardner. "Today’s anti-Semitism is a wave of hatred, intimidation and abuse against British Jews, who are stupidly blamed and randomly attacked over international tensions for which they bear no responsibility. We call upon the Police, Government, political parties and democrats everywhere to act loudly and clearly against this hateful trend."

Switzerland - Escalation in Antisemitic Activity in Switzerland
According to figures published by the Swiss AkdH (Aktion Kinder des Holocaust - association that combats antisemitism, racism and extremism) on 14 January 2007, the number of antisemitic manifestations reported in the German-speaking part of Switzerland doubled in 2006.According to Samuel Althof, head of the AkdH, while the trend of a rise in antisemitic manifestations was obvious, the numbers did not necessarily reflect an increase of 100 percent. Perhaps, said Althof, the monitoring body was becoming better known. The AKdH has been monitoring antisemitic incidents since 2004 on behalf of the SIG (Swiss Jewish Community). The SIG and the AkdH have been calling for a national antisemitism monitoring body federation-wide.
A similar phenomenon was observed in the French speaking part of Switzerland where, according to a report of the CIDAD (Intercommunity Coordination Against Antisemitism and Defamation), Geneva, published in April 2006, the number of antisemitic acts doubled in 2005.

Britain – British Jews Four Times More Prone to Hate Crimes than Muslims
The statistics, from the Metropolitan Police in London and Greater Manchester Police, where Britain’s two largest Jewish communities live, reveal an unexpectedly high level of apparent anti-Semitism within Britain. Jews in the UK are four times more likely to be the target of faith-hate crime than Muslims. Despite the much larger size of the Muslim community, more incidents against Jews were registered than against Muslims. This was particularly the case between July-September, when the second Lebanese war was raging.
The new figures confirm the findings of the All Party Parliamentary Inquiry Into Anti-Semitism, which in its September report, urged action from the police and prosecution services to tackle the problem. The head of the Inquiry, Denis Macshane, stated a "witches brew" of Islamic fundamentalists and intellectuals, racists and extreme left-wingers were making the problem worse.

The United States – The ADL Report on Antisemitism for 2004

On 4th April 2005, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) published its annual report on the struggle against Antisemitism in the United States. According to the report, in 2004 there were a record number of antisemitic incidents in the United States – 1821 incidents as opposed to 1557 incidents in 2003. This substantial increase is rooted mainly in the increase in the number of incidents of harassment of Jews. These incidents of harassment had their roots in two main sectors. The first was in the overt activities of neo-Nazi and white supremacy organizations. These groups gain in strength and supporters mainly by means of propaganda over the Internet, and are showing greater boldness in the overt activities. The second is in the increase in the number of incidents of harassment of Jews on the college campuses and in the schools. Despite this, the report indicates a decrease of 14% with in the general population of those holding clearly antisemitic views. The report also reports that about one third of the Americans believe that American Jews are more loyal to Israel than to the United States. About 30% of Americans believe that Jews were responsible for the death of Jesus, and 15% believe that Jews have too much power in the United States
